Welcome to the Learning Center, the distinguished center of academic support that's celebrated among the most popular study spots at UAS. Each year, hundreds of students make the LC their center of academic life, coming both to consult our tutors on homework questions and to team up with other students facing the same challenges as themselves.
Tutoring
It is our philosophy that students learn best when they study together; some of the best exchanges of ideas and insight occur in peer-driven settings. That's why we employ over 20 talented students in math and writing to offer their insight, support, and tips on studying.

Part of our commitment to helping students succeed at UAS is providing students with resources they can access while away from school. Struggling with a problem but don't have the time to visit campus? Visit tutor.com via the Statewide Library Electronic Doorway on the web. A grant from the Alaska State Library provides Alaskan students with free access to live one-on-one online help with assignments, papers and exam preparation in math, science, social studies and writing every day from 1 pm until 12 am. We also offer a growing collection of math review problems, grammar workshops, and language links available online.
The Testing Center
The Learning Center operates a proctoring facility called The Testing Center, where students and members of the community can take exams from distance courses, national organizations, and even UAS classes.
Placement tests are also available at the testing center. No appointment required!
The Writing Center
The Writing Center, located in Egan 105, provides a quiet, comfortable location for student writing and writing consultations. Trained tutors are available for scheduled or drop-in visits. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to improve their writing through the use of our services.
