Overview

Subject Tutors:

During the fall and spring semesters, tutors in various science and foreign language courses are typically available at The Learning Center.  If you would like to inquire about the availability of these subject tutors, ask your course instructor or come into the learning center to browse the current subject tutor schedules.

Portfolio Assistance

The writing tutors are familiar with requirements for English 110, BLA/BEd, and other entry/exit portfolios. Regular appointments can be scheduled with the Writing Center tutors to discuss portfolio progress.  Sample portfolios, cover letters, and links to the current requirements are available at the Writing Center.  If you have questions about any of the requirements, please stop by and make an appointment with a writing tutor.

Workshops

In addition to one-on-one tutoring, we also schedule workshops. These can cover everything from how to use a calculator to guidelines for APA format to time management.  If you would like to request a workshop, please contact us, or just come in and tell us what you would like to see.

Additional Resources:

Textbooks for all current math courses and many science courses are available for use in the Learning Center but unfortunately cannot be checked out.  You may check out older edition math texts; being rich in examples and alternative explanations, they are quite useful while preparing for an exam.   Calculators are also available for use at the Learning Center. We also have a collection of old tests (some of which are available for downloading from this site) and sample papers and handouts for different disciplines. Check with us to see if what we have may be useful to you.

A reader machine can be reserved for use at the Learning Center. We also have four computers with Maple, Geometer Sketchpad, and TI-Graph Link programs for math and science students.
