Proctoring Services
General Information
The UAS Testing Center offers proctoring services for all local and distance exams. The UAS Testing Center is a large, quiet room located at the bottom floor of the Egan Library, adjacent to the Learning Center. A proctor is present in the room during all regularly scheduled hours. The Testing Center is equipped with a videocamera to monitor the testing environment during specially arranged times when no proctor is present. All students taking exams at the Testing Center are required to present a picture ID
with signature and to sign an
Examination Certification Form to help maintain the integrity of all proctored exams. The students are also asked to sign in and out of the Testing Center to monitor usage and for easier tracking of students who have taken exams.
All tests are administered during scheduled
Testing Center hours only, unless special arrangements are made.
Local Exams
All UAS instructors have the option of conducting their quizzes and exams at the Testing Center instead of during regular class time. This option allows students to take the exams at a convenient time and to take more time than could otherwise be allocated. Instructors can also choose to allow only students who need special accomodations to take the exams at the Testing Center. The option of taking exams at the Testing Center makes make-up exams easy and allows instructors to plan their exams even if they are out of town for a time. Instructors interested in using this service need only contact TLC about a week in advance of the test date, fill out a
Test Information Form, and bring their exams to the Testing Center.
Distance Exams
The UAS Testing Center proctors UAS affiliated exams for free. If you are a student taking a corresponding course through UAA or UAF, you need to bring the proctor form from your institution for us to sign and then mail it or fax it back to your school. The exams will be mailed to us shortly. You are responsible for calling in to see if your exam is here and for making an appointment to take it.
Distance exams will not be given without an appointment.
We charge $20/hr for proctoring all non-UAS affiliated exams. Appointments are necessary to take all distance exams. International or standard examinations are charged at $20 per hour plus $30 handling fee. Examinees are responsible for all required postage.
BLA Impromptu Essays
Impromptu Essays for BLA and other program portfolios are administered twice a semester at the Testing Center. The dates and times for the current semester are available from the
Writing Assessment Program site.
