Adjacent to the Learning Center is a room called The Testing Center. This is a large, quiet room in which students and members of the community can have exams administered under direct supervision. The space is monitored by our proctors and security cameras at all times.

Testing hours are the same as the Learning Center's regular open hours.

UAS Exams

Taking a UAS class? If so, your course instructor may choose to offer their exams in our testing center. What are the advantages? Many teachers want their students to have additional time to complete an exam -- more than the class schedule allows. Check with your course instructor to find out if the testing center will be used for your course exams.

E-Learning Exams

Students enrolled in e-Learning education programs typically need to take supervised exams, and thus need to set up these exams with a local proctoring center, such as ourselves. Keep reading to learn how to setup and use The UAS Testing Center as your exam proctor.

Proctor Setup

To make The UAS Testing Center your distance test proctor, you must make arrangements with the campus that is offering the course. Here is the information to give them:

Most new UAS students will need to take a math and English placement test. The test will determine which math and English classes you should enroll in. No appointment is required to take a UAS placement test. Simply come to the Learning Center during our open hours.

You may not need to take a placement test if you have...

  • an AP math or AP English score of 3 or more
  • an ACT English score of 30 or more
  • an SAT Critical Reading score of 36 or more (680 or more if you took the SAT before March 2016)
  • or if you have passed an English of math class at another university (with a grade C or better)

**All test scores and transcripts must be approved by the Registrar's Office.

About the Tests

Test name: Accuplacer Classic for Math and English.

There is no time limit. On average, students take about 1 hour to complete the math test and about 2.5 hours to complete the English test. Please come early to allow yourself enough time to finish. No calculators are allowed during the test.

How to Study

We recommend that students spend at least a few days studying before taking the math placement test. We have math textbooks available for checkout, and we can give advice regarding what material to study. If you have specific math questions, the Learning Center math tutors are ready to help you study! Simply come to the Learning Center during our hours and study with us. We highly recommend that you work with these online practice tools to prepare for the math and/or English placement test.

We allow one retake per test and require that students wait at least a week before retaking. Students retaking the Ability-to-Benefit test, however, are required by federal guidelines to wait a minimum of two weeks before a retake.

Please see the Testing Fees tab or Payment tab for information on individual test fees.
