Progress Notes:- Early Scholars. The Juneau Douglas High School Early Scholars Program is in its tenth year of partnership with UAS. A cohort of 28 Alaska Native high school students meets weekly on the main UAS campus for a college enrichment seminar.
- Geometry Camp. In June 2007 a cohort of JDHS Early Scholars will take a condensed Geometry course at UAS, allowing them to enroll in Algebra II/Trigonometry during their 10th grade year. This math track will help prepare them for the 10th grade State assessment and provide them with an opportunity to take calculus before they graduate from high school.
- UAS Scholars Summer Program. In June 2007 this program will offer a senior seminar and an interdisciplinary (Environmental Science, English, Outdoor Studies) course to high achieving high school students during the summer prior to their senior year in high school.
- Assessment plans exist for all degree and certificate programs.
- Opened a new recreation facility in 2005 that provides health, recreation, and social opportunities. The facility includes a basketball court, running track, climbing wall, weight training, cardiovascular equipment, and a student lounge.
- UAS expanded the Friday night “Evening at Egan” lecture series.
- Opened a new two-story classroom addition in Spring 2003.
- The Pacific Rim Forum is held annually to explore current issues concerning the economy and environment in the Pacific Rim.
- Partner with the nationally-renowned Perseverance Theatre.

- PITAAS. The Preparing Indigenous Teachers & Administrators for Alaska Schools Program (PITAAS) is in its seventh year. During fall semester 2006, 55 Alaska Native students received PITAAS scholarships at UAS, 16 of those were first time freshmen who completed the Summer Institute. The program launched a writing coach component through the Alaska State Writing Consortium to support PITAAS students at the secondary level.
- College Success. 60+ high school juniors and seniors from southeast Alaska villages visited UAS and participated in a college fair as part of the College Success Program.
- NRSC. The Native and Rural Student Center provides on-going academic advising and cultural programming for Native and rural students.
- UAS Scholars Summer Program will offer a senior seminar and an interdisciplinary course to high achieving high school students during the summer 2007 prior to their senior year in high school.
