Kalb's presentation includes images of individuals caught up in the horrors of the Holocaust. It is based on Kalb’s artwork and/or documentary materials he has digitally recreated.

Dr. Marsha Sousa comes to UAS from the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College, where she served as Associate Dean. Sousa worked with UAS Provost Rick Caulfield when he was Director of the UAF Community and Technical College.

UAS Outdoor Studies students & staff make history climbing Mt. Denali, North America's Highest Peak
The group began their ascent on May 12 with stops at main base camps at 14,200 and 17,000 feet. Fifteen days later, three members of the group reached the summit at 6 pm, May 27.

The Alaska Native Oratory Society is a learning community and a series of speaking events that provide opportunities for Alaska Native, Native American and Non-Native high school and university students to develop their oratory skills through participation in four speech categories: Oratory, Declamation, Storytelling, and Native Languages.

University of Alaska Southeast art major Bonilyn Parker won two prestigious national awards at the the 2010 National Student Juried Exhibition at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) convention held March 31-April 3 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

2009 UAS Outstanding Graduate Micaela Martinez-Bakker becomes National Science Foundation Fellow
In addition to the NSF fellowship, the University of Michigan graduate school has awarded Martinez-Bakker a Merit Fellowship. The NSF and Merit fellowships will provide Micaela resources to study infectious diseases in Arctic wildlife and continue in the field of Polar Biology.

Susan Power Presentation and Reading
Poet, writer and storyteller Susan Power will give a presentation and read from some of her works at the Egan Lecture Hall, University of Alaska Southeast, Thursday, January 28 at 7 p.m. Power is a member of the Standing Rock Sioux. She holds an MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop and a law degree from Harvard University. Her first book, The Grass Dancer, received a 1995 Pen/Hemingway Award.
