The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners has awarded University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) accreditation of its business programs. UAS is the first institution in Alaska to receive this honor.

Celebrating 32 years of excellence in global business program accreditation, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business degrees and programs offered at the University of Alaska Southeast meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support to determine whether or not the business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.

“University of Alaska Southeast has shown a commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Accreditation at ACBSP Conference 2020 in Chicago, Illinois, on June 28. “This accreditation is evidence that UAS is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”

UAS Chancellor Rick Caulfield commented: “We at the University of Alaska Southeast are very pleased with this national accreditation of our associate and baccalaureate level business and accounting programs. Our faculty and staff have worked hard to ensure that our courses and degrees meet the highest standards and that graduates have the knowledge and skills to find employment in their chosen field. This national recognition affirms what our students and graduates have long told us--that a business degree from UAS has provided them excellent opportunities for employment and career advancement.”
