The U.S. Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station dedicated its new Forestry Sciences Laboratory in Juneau on May 17, 2013

ACRC at PNW Research Station Open House

     The new Forestry Sciences Laboratory

Saturday's ceremony included free guided tours and the raising of carved house posts. The 12,000-square-foot facility is adjacent to the University of Alaska Southeast campus and will provide an opportunity for Forest Service research scientists to work with university faculty and students. The lab will support research on climate change, forest health, and use of natural resources. It was designed to be energy-efficient and features regionally sourced building materials. The Alaska Coastal Rainforest Center will be housed in the new building, helping facilitate a collaborative effort to coordinate with all of our partners.
