Undergraduate Students
The mission of the UAS Undergraduate Studies Program is to guide individuals to explore and refine their unique talents and interests, to discover their career paths through scientific and literary exploration, as well as provide exposure to civic and spiritual leaders and artistic expression. It is our mission to help students turn their passion into a meaningful and fulfilling career.
The undergraduate program at UAS takes full advantage of Southeast Alaska's surroundings, combining the breadth of a liberal arts education with opportunities for learning outside the classroom. The liberal arts emphasis builds confidence and the skills to problem solve, communicate effectively and work collaboratively by combining field research with excellent professors and frequent opportunities to grow and learn outside the classroom.

After your graduation ceremony, arrange to have your official high school transcript showing your graduation date sent to the Admissions & Records office. Alaskan high school transcripts after 2004 must show that the student fulfilled all curriculum requirements and satisfactorily completed all three competency areas of the High School Qualifying Exam.
Home School Students
In recent years we have experienced a growth in applications from home school students. UAS welcomes home school applicants and reviews each application using the same admission criteria used for high school students. Home school students are required to submit all of the application materials listed above. It is understood that a home school transcript may be different than a high school transcript. Regardless of the format, a transcript should include 9th to 12th grade courses, and the time frame of each course (academic year and semester). In addition, an assessment of performance (letter grade, percentage, etc.) is needed. Occasionally applicants may be asked to submit additional information describing curriculum or texts used.
