Teacher Certification and Endorsement
The mission of the UAS Professional Development program is to provide high quality, culturally responsive, educational opportunities based on framework of theoretical research, current pedagogy, and aligned to state and national professional guidelines. Our goals are to prepare teachers to facilitate children's development toward intellectual and moral autonomy, to develop teachers who view their role as a sophisticated one, requiring personal pedagogical (educational and instructive) reflection leading to analysis of current classroom beliefs and practices, and to develop and empower teaching professionals to lead the nation in providing high quality, culturally competent, and developmentaly appropriate programs for students.
Endorsement programs are non-degree programs of study preparing admitted candidates to add endorsements to an Alaska teaching certificate. All course work must be completed within a seven-year period immediately preceding the date the endorsement is granted. Endorsements are granted by the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development; UAS provides the institutional recommendation for endorsement.

Certificate and Endorsement Admission Requirements
For each of the professional development programs listed above, additional information is required by the department along with the application for admission. Please select a method below to apply for professional development admission to the University of Alaska Southeast:
- Complete the applicable UAOnline application form. Go to UAOnline and select Apply for Admissions. After selecting first time user account creation follow the instructions provided. Or
- Download the Credential Application for Admission ( PDF | 60KB) or the Endorsement Application for Admission ( PDF | 88KB), print, complete, and mail the application form to UAS Admissions. Or
- Contact UAS Admissions to request a printed application form in the mail. The Admissions Office contact information is on the left navigation menu.
