Mathematics

Our mission is to provide students excellent mathematics instruction at a small school in a remarkable environment. UAS students benefit from:

  • An excellent student-to-faculty ratio.
  • The ability to combine interdisciplinary studies in preparation for a career in business, industry, the earth or life sciences, or any other career which utilizes the mathematical sciences.
  • Preparation for a Masters of Art in Teaching degree at the UAS School of Education or any other school of teacher education for a career in secondary school mathematics.
  • Grounding to pursue graduate studies in mathematics or the applied sciences in preparation for a career in research, higher education, or industry.

Students may also take advantage of internships offered through the UAS Career Services Offices as well as gain valuable experience through tutoring at the UAS Learning Center.

Bachelor of Science: Mathematics

Bachelor degree programs are typically 120 credits (four years), and are designed to prepare students for employment or graduate school in their chosen field.

Degree Requirements (2015-2016 Catalog)

Candidates must complete the General Education Requirements (GER) as well as the specific program requirements listed below for a minimum of 120 credit hours. Courses in a degree program may be counted only once. Courses used to fulfill the major requirements cannot be used to fulfill the GER. The degree must include 42 upper division (300 or above) credits, 24 of which must be completed at UAS.
