Tidal Echoes

"Tidal Echoes fills a unique, literary niche for Southeast Alaska, a forum for an eclectic blend of readers and artists to meet and engage.  We're all the richer for its graceful presence." -- Nick Jans

"Tidal Echoes is proof that many of Alaska’s finest writers and artists are living in and inspired by Southeast Alaska in all its natural and human glory, and that UAS is the heart of a modern Alaskan creative renaissance. It was a tremendous honor for my work to be included alongside so many talented artists and writers in the 2010 issue and to work with the terrific student editors and University staff." -- Heather Lende

"Tidal Echoes is the literary and artistic voice of Southeast Alaska, with great writing and cool art spread throughout its pages.  It's a vital link in spreading the good work about the literary and artistic culture of our endlessly inspiring rainy little corner of the world." -- Ray Troll

Tidal Echoes is a literary and art journal that showcases the art and writing of Southeast Alaskans. It is sponsored and administered by the University of Alaska Southeast, which has campuses in Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan, and Capital City Weekly.

Southeast Alaska is rich with talent.  Our communities support writers, storytellers, playwrights, photographers, basket weavers, carvers, and many others types of artists and writers. As a literary journal, Tidal Echoes aims to bring together all the voices and visions of Southeast Alaskan artists and writers.

Tidal Echoes
accepts work from any full-time resident of Southeast Alaska. A portion of the journal is reserved for UAS students. The journal is looking for poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, plays, photographs, paintings, sculptures , ceramics, and all other types of art that can be photographed. Please see the link on this page for the detailed submission guidelines.

Questions about the journal or submission process should be sent to:  emily.wall@uas.alaska.edu.
