Pagurus hirsutiusculus is olive green to black in color. The carapace and legs are hairy. It's total carapace shield measures 19 mm in length. It's antennae are greenish brown with a yellow dot on every other segment. The right cheliped is broader and larger than the left. Very recognizable on the propodi of the walking legs is a blue dot at the beginning of an appendage and a white band on the other end. The dactyls of each leg have a blue patch and four longitudinal red stripes, which are not as easily recognizable.
