Having been successfully piloted in the Spring of 2012, the university's upper-division formative writing assessment is now in place to be conducted every year. All BLA graduates, when they register for the Capstone course, are required to submit a portfolio of written work for formative evaluation by the Director of Composition and Assessment. The written work may include creative pieces and power point presentations, but ought to cover a range of writing styles and be directed to a range of audiences. Some academic writing should be included for evaluation.
Upon receiving the feedback, BLA graduates-to-be are urged to revise, expand, and polish their writing for the final submission of their comprehensive portfolio to the BLA Assessment Committee at the end of Spring term.
