Characteristics: Asbestos, breathing of fibers is a possible carcinogen; usually green to white; fibrous serpentine; no cleavage and uneven fracture; greasy, waxy luster; translucent; dissolves in strong acids.
Found in serpentinites and altered ultramafic rocks.
