

Muscovite (Silicate-Phyllosilicate)
KAl2(AlSi3O10)(OH)2Hardness: 2.5 - 3.0
Specific Gravity: 2.9 - 3.1
Characteristics: White mica; platy mineral that peels off in 'sheets'; perfect basal cleavage; pearly or vitreous luster; transparent to translucent.
Found in schists; phyllites; granites; granitic pegmatites.
Some uses of muscovite include in electrical and heat insulation, production of porcelain, paper fireproof paint and rubber.
