Evasterias troschelii is a major predator in the intertidal zone. It is numerous and easy to spot with its pentaramous appendages and radial symmetry. E. troschelii is in the Class Asteroidea with other sea stars which means it possesses rays (arms) projecting from a central disc and is free moving.
