Dave Sexton earned a Bachelor's Degree in Community Studies from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, a Master's Degree in Justice Administration from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Dave has designed, written, and taught dozens of online and on-campus criminal justice classes for community colleges in Washington, Oregon and California. He is currently an Associate Professor and Program Director in the Law Enforcement Department with the University of Alaska Southeast in Sitka.
Dave has 28 years of law enforcement experience, 17 as a working police chief, specializing in tourism-recreation oriented destination communities with the added flair of high seasonal population fluctuations and high customer service expectations. Certified as a peace officer on the highest attainable levels offered in both Alaska and Washington, he recently directed the police training and standards division of the Alaska Department of Public Safety. He has managed and directed two large highly competent and capable specialized private security forces, one in extreme rural and one in extreme urban settings. He has extensive training and experience in emergency management.
