This course satisfies the USCG and STCW requirements for Apprentice Mate (Steersman) Upgrade (UNIVAS-33). It is a sixteen hour program designed for mariners seeking a license as APPRENTICE MATE (STEERSMAN) of Towing Vessels. Any student successfully completing the course will satisfy the USCG examination requirements of 46 CFR 10.205(i) for original issuance or 46 CFR 10.209(c)(iii) for renewal of a license as Apprentice Mate (Steersman) of Towing Vessels or Mate(Pilot) of Towing Vessels.
Note: This course is not a stand-alone course unless the mariner already holds a Master/Mate not more than 200 GRT License. If the appropriate license is not held, the mariner must take the full 100 Ton Master course and upgrade to 200 Ton Master within one year of completion of the Apprentice Mate course.
