The ABEF has operated an internship program since 1999 and has now graduated 48 students from its program.  Internships are available each summer from May-September.

The internship is in the area of "Live Raptor Handling" and utilizes the ABEF's live raptors.  Each year the ABEF sponsors 4 interns in the program.  Interns receive complimentary housing at the ABEF, a $190 per week food stipend, and round trip transportation costs from the student's home or school to Haines, Alaska.  

The positions are competitive and the ABEF usually receives approximately 5 applications for each position available.  Upon successful completion of the program interns are certified by the ABEF as live raptor handlers with a minimum of 500 live raptor training hours.  Raptors used include hawks, falcons, owls, and bald eagles.
