The Friends of Rydell and Glacial Ridge Refuges Association (FRGRA) is searching for two motivated individuals to intern as FRGRA Naturalists at Rydell National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) for the summer months. Rydell NWR is located in the Prairie Pothole Region of Northwestern Minnesota between the flat Red River Valley Floodplain to the west and the rolling hardwood forest and lake regions to the east. The refuge provides numerous summer programs for all ages and does considerable outreach to surrounding communities.
Description of Internships: There are two positions available, both with primary duties focused on visitor services and public use of the refuge. Each position will require skills in public speaking and presentations, interpretive writing, and engaging all age levels in educational activities. Positions work 40-hour weeks, within a 5 day period using alternative scheduling (Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday). Secondary duties include assisting with biological monitoring and collections, and aiding Refuge staff as needed.
Salary: Weekly tax-exempt stipend of $200.00 per week, including free, on-site housing.
Tour of Duty: Starting on or about May 1 and extending 12-15 weeks.
