Position: Human Resource Office Intern

Summary:

The Intern will help prepare the Human Resources Section to be able to track and measure human resources duties and tasks under the Results-Based Alignment (RBA) model.  The incumbent in this position may be privy to confidential information.

Duties will include but are not limited to: 

  • Learn policy and procedures for DOT&PF and the Division of Personnel and Labor Relations;
  • Maintain confidentiality of records/information in the Human Resources office;
  • Provide general administrative support such as filing, maintaining logs, data entry, greeting customers, distributing mail, and disseminating various documents;
  • Assist in the implementation of an electronic filing system for the HR section;
  • Prepare documents for archive or destruction (as appropriate) in compliance with State of Alaska records retention schedules and guidance;
  • Load appropriate HR materials into the department's electronic systems.

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Experience in using Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge and/or experience in basic statistics/data analysis is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong work ethic, the ability to work independently, possesses organizational skills, high attention to detail, and is not afraid to ask questions.
  • Has or willing to develop telephone and customer service skills.
