The Engineering Intern performs assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer. Candidate shall be an individual enrolled in good standing in undergraduate engineering studies; civil engineering or construction management degree specialization is desirable; prior relevant experience, although not required, is desirable. 

This position will be required to work part of the term of employment in Fairbanks and part of the term of employment in Salcha, Alaska. Candidate must have own transportation to work location and be responsible for his or her own living expenses. Ability to start part time work in Fairbanks prior to end of school year is desirable. The internship will focus on engineering and office support of a large heavy civil project constructing a railroad bridge over the Tanana River in Salcha AK. This is multi-year project. The successful candidate will be part of a professional team of construction engineers and inspectors performing construction administration duties for the Alaska Railroad Corporation through their program management consultant HDR Alaska Inc. 

• Prefer 2+ years completed toward Civil or Construction Management degree
• This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with HDR's vehicle policy.
• 3.00 GPA, and good professional and/or academic references 
• Attention to detail a must.
• Work outdoors in adverse weather
• Must possess strong problem solving and communication skills.
