A GFAS Accredited Sancuary committed to rescuing abused, abandoned, and unwanted exotic cats. Since 1992, we have rescued more than 200 exotic animals, giving them a caring, lifelong home at the Refuge. These magnificent creatures are the unfortunate, unwanted products of the private trade in exotic animals. Most of them would have been destroyed if we were not able to give them a home.

Animal Care (15 intern spots available):

Responsible for the daily care of tigers, lions, bears, leopards, cougars, servals, caracals, bobcats, and a rhesus macaque. Daily care includes cleaning, feeding, & medicating.

Additional duties include:

  • habitat maintenance & construction
  • animal husbandry & enrichment
  • record keeping of animal behavior
  • educational public tours
  • behavior management training

Education (1 intern spot available):

Responsible for educating visitors about our resident species through daily tours, educational programs, and special tasks.

Additional duties include:

  • research & program development
  • educational writing for web, newsletters & articles
  • present for groups & summer camps
  • develop educational wayside exhibits
