Job Opportunities

The InSite Chemist works both indoors and outdoors at our customer site at the household hazardous waste facility in Juneau.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.

  • Responsible for assisting with collecting, identifying and packaging hazardous/non-hazardous waste and medical waste from residents and businesses at the household hazardous waste facility in Juneau.

  • Process various waste streams including but not limited to light bulb crushing, paint consolidation and solidification, scrap metal processing.

  • Prepare and load waste drums and other containers in conex for barge shipment.

  • Interact with customers and the public daily

  • Answer phone calls and manage customer requests.

  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and grounds.

  • Maintain daily, weekly and monthly inspections, checklists, and other reports as required by Clean Harbors and the customer.

  • Complete required paperwork for shipments to comply with all company policies, barge requirements and DOT/EPA/Environment Canada regulations.

    Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required, focus in environmental sciences or other field with sciences related coursework

  • Related work experience preferred

  • Proficiency in Windows based applications

  • Clean driving record with ability to obtain a light duty certification.

  • Superior customer service skills

  • 24 or 40 hour OSHA, DOT and Forklift training preferred

  • Ability to safely work in a fast paced physical environment, including lifting 50 lbs or more.
