Summary:

Located at the top of Mt. Roberts Tramway, Nature Center employees are expected to present formal and informal nature interpretation programs through visitor interactions, video programs, and presentations in the Alpine Tea House.

Employees welcome visitors to the alpine environment and provide current trail information and assistance to guides. Nature Center employees may guide the "Town, Tram and Timberline Trek" as needed.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing high levels of customer service
  • Conversing with a wide range of guests: answering questions, chatting with customers, and engaging visitors with the nature displays and with the natural world
  • Retail sales, cash register operations, money handling
  • Understanding Emergency Procedures so they can be carried out in the event of an emergency
  • Stocking merchandise
  • Cleaning of Nature Center and Alpine Tea House
  • Sampling herbal teas with groups of 14 (or fewer) tour guests

Qualifications:

  • Punctuality, work ethic, willingness to learn, and openness to feedback.
  • Knowledge or interest in nature a plus.
  • Experience or interest in sales a plus.
  • Experience in tourism or interest in guiding a plus.
  • Relevant coursework in the Natural Sciences or Business a plus.
  • Skill in artwork for making signage a plus

Pay rate/job length: We're looking for staff who can commit to work May-Sep. Full time or Part time. Pay rate is $12-14/hour DOE. We're also looking for late season staff starting in August and going through September or early October. For late season staff we can work around your class schedule and you can work as much or as little as you like.
