Summary: Glacier Bay Sea Kayaks (GBSK) is the concession service in Glacier Bay National Park that provides kayak rentals and guided day kayak trips.
The primary part of our business is renting kayaks to experienced campers interested in exploring Glacier Bay on their own. Instructors give an orientation covering all needed information for a safe trip in Glacier Bay: tides, wind, weather, maps, kayak safety, use of equipment, and more. We also give shorter instruction to guests that are renting for a day or half day paddle in Bartlett Cove, park headquarters.
In addition, we also conduct guided half or full day kayak tours in Bartlett Cove. The day trips focus on wildlife and marine mammal viewing, plant and animal identification, natural and human history, and education.
Ideal candidates will have completed the University of Alaska Southeast’s Outdoor Skills and Leadership Program. An efficiency apartment is available for housing next door; rent is $650/month including utilities and GBSK would pay half. For more information on what we do, please check out our website.
