Position: Administrative Assistant (Teen Health Center)
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. 12 months of clerical work experience. Valid AK Driver's license. Post-secondary or business college training may be substituted for required experience. Clearance of state and federal background checks required.
Summary: This position provides administrative support to the Teen Health Centers located at Thunder Mountain High School and Yaakoosge Daakahidi Alternative High School. This position performs a series of interrelated administrative and clerical duties directly concerned with the work of the supervisor and the image of the Teen Health Center. 

This position ensures the Health Center's compliance with state and agency rules and regulations for access to health care. These responsibilities carry a heavy consequence of error. This position also coordinates the schedules of the providers and patients for efficient use of the facilities. 

Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinates schedules of providers, patients, and clients.
  • Issues permission for their attendance with school staff.
  • Directs the activities of student aides throughout the day.
  • Coordinates with other agencies for health care outside the scope of the THC.
  • Maintains and updates student consent status lists and confidentiality in accordance with state and agency rules/regulations.
  • Maintains courtesy and professional image through example and informs the supervisor of areas in need of improvement.
  • Point of contact for admitting students; performs basic triage.
  • Receives and screens phone calls and visitors; inquiries about nature and urgency of their business.
  • Prepares and maintains medical records and charts.
  • Inventories supplies.
  • Uses a wide variety of office equipment/machines.
  • Implements office procedures, technical filing and indexing systems and forms for own and outside use, and implements changes when necessary.
