Job Posting

Company: SAIL (Southeast Alaska Independent Living)
Location: Juneau, AK
Position: Youth Employment in the Parks - Peer Mentor
Requirements: See job posting
Summary:
Youth Employment in the Parks (YEP) is a nine-week summer work program (June 3rd-August 2nd) for teens currently enrolled in high school who experience a disability and/or have a high ACEs score. The crew consists of ten teens and the program focuses on both hard and soft job skills. The crew works on Juneau's trails and in the parks Monday through Thursday, and then works on building interpersonal skills for a half day on Friday. This will be YEP's fourth summer in Juneau and has proven to be a positive first job experience for teens who may require a more supportive work environment.
YEP is looking for a peer mentor. The peer mentor is meant to be close in age to the teens, but old enough to not form friendships outside of work with the crew. The position is meant for someone who is able to relate to teens and provide a comfortable and safe environment for the crew. The pay is around $18/hr and the work week is 32 hours. The day approximately lasts from 8:30-4:00 Monday-Thursday and 8:30-1:00 on Fridays.
Applications can be scanned to Emma Van Nes (evannes@sailinc.org) or submitted in person at the SAIL Office and the Zach Gordon Youth Center.
