Alaska Zipline Adventures offers Zipline/Canopy Tours through the Tongass National Forest at Eaglecrest Ski Area.  We are a genuine eco-tour, and we are making every effort to minimize our impact on the environment.  We are continuing to learn more about how to reduce our impact each day. Our tour consists of a series of ziplines and an aerial suspension bridge with beautiful mountain vistas surrounding you. This year, we are building a new treehouse on the last platform of the tour.   Learn about the rainforest, and help participants gain their courage to zip from one platform to the next, soaring over the rainforest canopy.  We are looking for responsible people who are outgoing, positive, flexible, athletic and have (or can obtain) current First Aid & CPR Training prior to training.  Climbing experience is a plus, but full training will be provided.  An end of the season bonus is provided to all employees who work until the end of the season.

Naturalist Guide: Lead groups on interpretive natural, cultural and historical walks, hikes and whale watching tours. Share expertise on all ecosystem types in the Juneau area, including the alpine, sub-alpine, rainforest and coastline. This position offers variety, as you will be guiding on various trails which include the Mt. Roberts Loop Trail, the Rain Forest Trail on North Douglas Island, historic Perseverance Trail, scenic West and East Glacier Trails and possibly others. Drive and operate company vehicles for guided tours, if eligible. CIG certification available through the National Association of Interpretation (see Links).

Nature Center Interpreter/Sales Staff: Present formal and informal interpretive programs through visitor interactions, video & slide shows, and deck talks. Provide current trail information to visitors and assistance to guides. Perform first aid as needed and assure safety on the mountain. Perform specific retail functions based on everyday operations such as working the computer register and credit card machine; answering the phone and visitor questions; stocking, pricing, inventory and other duties as assigned. Guide natural history walks through the alpine ecosystems on the Mt. Roberts Loop Trail as needed.

Dock Representative: Assist with day-to-day tour operations on the docks. Act as the first point of contact for all Gastineau Guiding visitors. Foster sales and settle daily accounting and port-of-call issues with cruise line representatives. Complete daily guide schedule and update database. Carry out other administrative duties as assigned.

Drivers: CDL Class B license required (Will provide training). Experience in local area preferred. Drive a media shuttle for various photography/hiking tours. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and care a plus. Must be flexible, outgoing and enjoy working with the public.

Maintenance Assistant: Monitor and maintain a vehicle fleet of 16.  Responsible for minor repairs, fluid levels, cleaning/detailing and related projects.  Assist with Nature Center freight delivery.  Clean office facilities as required.

Bookkeeper: Applicants should have experience with A/R and basic accounting functions.  Familiarity with MS Access and Quickbooks a plus.  Organizational skills, a positive attitude and good customer service skills required.  Hours are flexible.

Naturalist Photography Guide: Lead small groups on tours to Juneau’s hot spots while working to improve their photography skills. Responsibilities include everything from instructing guests on how to use their equipment, to explaining the mechanics of the Mendenhall Glacier. Since this tour is conducted on both land and sea, you will be on the water almost daily. The position requires a solid background in photography and strong interpersonal skills. A willingness to train as a naturalist and obtain Coast Guard crew certification is mandatory. Drive and operate company vehicles for guided tours, if eligible. You may be asked to fill in as a Naturalist Guide when needed.

Tour Attendants: Entry-level position where most first year employees will begin working. Stationed at helicopter base, main responsibilities include greeting passengers, outfitting them with boots, presentation of safety information, assisting passengers on and off helicopters.
All Purpose: Duties are varied, depending on need, but may include working as a Tour Attendant, Bus Representative, Bus Coordinator, Expeditor, Receptionist and Glacier Guide Assistant. Must have current CPR/Basic First Aid cards to qualify for glacier work.
Dock Representatives: Prior experience with TEMSCO Helicopters, Inc. or other tour operator necessary. Work on the docks downtown as a coordinator between ship sales staff and TEMSCO base.
Reception: Working at heliport taking reservations, answering phones, faxes, data entry, occasional loading of passengers into aircraft and/or van runs. Collect payment, manifest walk-in customers and keep expeditor schedule updated. This position requires organization and the ability to handle many tasks at one time.
Flight Followers: Prior experience with TEMSCO Helicopters, Inc. or with radio communication required. Responsibilities include but not limited to: flight following, coordination of communication between all sites of operation, data entry and precise record keeping.
Glacier Guide: Responsible for supervising guest’s activities while on the ice which may include a presentation of basic glacier information. This position will assist the lead guide in all areas of the glacier operation. Majority of time is spent out in the elements. Must have current CPR and First Aid cards or currently in the process of obtaining them.
Expeditor: Will transport passengers, bus reps, and dock reps to and from the heliport. Must be courteous, prompt and have a safe and current driving record. Should also be familiar with Juneau area. Will be responsible for daily upkeep and fueling of vans.
Lead Tour Attendant & Ramp Supervisor: (2 positions) Daily supervision of all tour attendants, works closely with management, must be familiar with all aspects of the tour operation process at base and is prepared to fill in when needed. Good communication skills a must.
Bus Representatives: Should be friendly and outgoing and enthusiastic. Assist our dock reps with loading passengers onto buses, collect all information from them for aircraft manifests and in general give our guests a warm welcome both to Juneau and TEMSCO Helicopters, Inc.
