On Campus Student Employment

Want to earn money, gain skills, demonstrate your abilities and work ethic, explore your interests and augment your academic program without leaving campus? Apply for a student assistant position. You will work under supervisors who support student academic success, and learn time management techniques to help you balance your course work with a job.

Quick Facts on Applying for a Student Job
  • To work on the UAS campus, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits in the current semester. For summer and holiday employment, students must be enrolled in the previous or upcoming semester.
  • Students must maintain no less than a 2.0 GPA. (Some jobs require higher GPAs)
  • Students may work up to 20 hours per week while in school and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks. Students can hold more than one position if the total hours do not exceed these limits.
  • Students will need to provide an original Social Security Card and one other type of photo identification (such as current driver's license or passport, or a current student ID).
  • Special documentation is required for international students. Contact the Office of Academic Exchange & Study Abroad Coordinator Marsha Squires, at 907-796-6455, for more information.
  • Waivers are sometimes possible under special circumstances. Contact Eric Ramaekers, Assistant Director of Financial Aid, at 907-796-6312.
How to Apply
Go to www.uakjobs.com, complete the online UAS profile and application forms then choose "Advanced Job Search." Under the Employment Type option select "Student" from the drop-down menu and under Location, select "Juneau." Do not use the job type option. Click the "Search" button at the bottom to see a list of on-campus job openings. It is important to note that, to apply for a position, you will be required to upload a resume and at least three references. Some jobs require supplemental documents, which are described within the specific position descriptions under "Special Instructions to Applicants." If you have any questions or encounter any problems applying for on-campus jobs, visit Career Services for assistance, or contact the UAS Personnel office at 796-6263.
