Jamie L. Parker: 2014 Co-Outstanding Graduate — Elementary Education

Jamie L. ParkerChildren are constantly asked what they want to be when they grow up. Their responses change over time and I was no different. In elementary school I wanted to be a waitress (a job my oldest sister had at the time). As I grew and learned more about the world and job opportunities, my responses to, “what do you want to be when you grow up?" ranged from accountant to veterinarian.  I tried several different programs when I started out my college education, before I decided my people skills would be best put to use as a teacher. Upon enrolling in my first education course I knew I had found the right career path for me. I have spent the last 9 months living in Sitka, Alaska completing my student teaching in a 1st grade classroom. After graduation I hope to spend some time traveling to get some new ideas and experiences to share in my future classrooms. I have fallen in love with Sitka and am hoping to find a teaching job there! ~Jamie Parker
