Danny Peterson: 2013 Co-Outstanding Graduate — English
UAS allowed me to intern at the public radio station KTOO, where I produced news stories for undergraduate credits. I was also a co-host for the UAS Radio Hour on KXLL, where I met a lot of wonderful people, too. Now I work for Public Radio. Without the flexibility of that internship program I wouldn't be where I am today. I want to thank my advisers Nina Chordas, Jenifer Vernon, and KTOO news director Rosemarie Alexander for their encouragement.
I want to dedicate this Co-Outstanding Graduate Award to the memory of Alison McKenna, my former high-school English teacher who first exposed me to Public Radio.
I plan to move to California to explore new possibilities, either in a career or further education.
Danny Peterson has been an exemplary student in both English and Communication, both of which sponsored his Internship with KTOO radio in Juneau during 2012. The stories he researched, wrote, produced and delivered on the air for KTOO made an excellent contribution to the Juneau community and an outstanding representation of UAS.
UAS' 2013 Juneau Commencement will be held May 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the UAS Recreation Center.
