Celebrating Graduates 2014

Eric J. Vogel: 2014 Outstanding Graduate — Construction Technology

Eric VogelI was impressed with the duality of the UAS Construction Technology program. Half of the time we were in an immense shop with tools and sawdust, working real world construction problems. The other half of the time was spent in classrooms with professional instructors teaching current and regionally appropriate building strategies, building codes, home design and even AutoCad. This gave me a wide scope of experiences to draw upon for career inspiration. The Construction Technology program gave me the tools, direction, and confidence to pursue and secure a job as a drafter with a local engineering firm working contracts all over the state. ~Eric Vogel

It has been my privilege to guide Eric through his drafting studies and to have gotten to know him as a person. He always exceeded my expectations in the classroom and demonstrated a quiet leadership that motivated the other students to push their limits. UAS can be proud to have an alumnus like Eric Vogel. ~Robin Gilcrist, Assistant Professor, Construction Technology

Eric Vogel began working on his Associates Degree in Construction Technology in 2010. Throughout his studies Eric has been in academic good standing and been on the Dean’s list for three semesters.  During his fall semester of 2011 Eric met the love of his life and was married in the summer of 2012. That same year Eric also began working as a drafting technician for Morris Engineering.  Last year Eric became a proud father and continued his course work on his way to completing an Associate’s Degree. This spring Eric will have completed his Associates of Applied Science degree in Construction and a Drafting Certificate while maintaining an GPA of 3.6; while working and being a new husband and father.

UAS' 2014 Juneau Commencement will be held May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the UAS Recreation Center.
