Katherine Johnson: 2013 Outstanding Graduate in Liberal Arts (Regional)
Katherine R Johnson was selected as the Outstanding Bachelor of Liberal Arts Graduate for the 2012-2013 academic year by the regional bachelor of liberal arts faculty workgroup. Katie's interdisciplinary studies emphasis includes a primary field of psychology and a secondary field of sociology. Along with having the highest cumulative UAS GPA of the B.L.A. students in her graduating cohort, Katie embodies the values and conscientiousness the faculty workgroup envisions for our graduates, all while sharing the challenges of being a transfer student and having work and family responsibilities outside of school. This included her high quality writing, dedication to knowledge and skills in her chosen disciplines, and valuing her education beyond her grades, including completing work beyond the minimum required by her courses to get the most out of her educational opportunities and using her education to provide service to her community in Sitka. Congratulations Katie!
