Course design encompasses syllabus construction, learning outcome development, assignment scaffolding and timing, readings selection, student engagement techniques, and much more. To learn more about the various aspects of course design and explore strategies for creating or updating your courses, check out the resources below, attend a CELT workshop, and/or contact CELT staff for one-on-one guidance and support.

Blackboard Tools

Need help setting up your course Blackboard site, or have Blackboard questions? The Instructional Design (IDN) area of the CELT website has many instructional resources available to faculty through their Blackboard section. The IDN section also has instructional pages on accessibility, Voicethread, video, and graphics resources

UAS also has a new Blackboard Tool called Curriculum Builder that enables you to create reading lists that link directly to articles and ebooks from Egan Library within your course site. With this tool, you can also provide links to web resources, as well as add notes for students about required reading in their assigned textbooks or other printed materials. If you are interested in learning about how to use Curriculum Builder, you can review this PDF of Curriculum Builder basics, or email uas.celt@alaska.edu to set up an in-person training.
