Am I eligible?^
To be eligible you must be entering high school grades 10, 11, or 12 in Fall 2009 and you must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

How do I apply?^
Complete our application form and include these four items with your application.
- One copy of your current high school transcript or middle school record.
- One Letter of Support from either your teacher or school guidance counselor.
- The name, phone #, and email address of a second adult (not a parent) who can be contacted as a personal reference.
- A one-page, single spaced (approx 500 word) essay written and signed by you.
Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applications will be returned if the essay is less than the required length or carelessly written and this delay can lessen your chance of admission. Please consider your essay, letter of support, and completeness of your application seriously and apply as soon as you can.

How much does it cost?^
Total cost for the camp is $1500. Payment covers UAS course registration and all food, lodging, field trips, and activities once students arrive on campus. Travel to Juneau is not included. Financial Aid is available (PDF).

Will I get college credit?^
Yes. All students who finish one of our modules will receive 1 unit of college credit in either biology or environmental science.

How will I know if I am accepted?^
We will contact you by phone and email. Please provide accurate contact information (phone and email) for your parent so that we can reach you. (This includes vacations!) We have a rolling application process and will continue to review and select applicants until full.

What do I include in my essay?^
Please discuss your academic interests, future career interests, and any extracurricular activities you’d like to share. Let us know specifically why you would like to attend DDR and what you expect to gain from the experience. Do you have prior interest or experience in the academic module you’ve requested or is it a new area of interest you’d like to explore? What are your plans after high school and how do they relate to DDR? Have fun writing; it’s your space to introduce yourself. Because it is our goal to learn more about each student, the essay must be written by the student applicant and not by the parent.

How do submit my application?^
Please mail your application form and all supporting documents to the address given on the last page of the application. You may also fax a copy to the fax number there It is important that your application be complete. Feel free to send an email to ddr@uas.alaska.edu and we will send a courtesy email reply when we have received your application.
