DESL 180 - AC Power Generation - Course Website

This course is a continuation of DESL S171, Heavy Duty Electrical Systems. This course is a study of AC power generation methods used in marine and industrial applications. The interface of diesel engines to power generation is strongly emphasized. This course covers AC generation theory, safety, regulation, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of the types of units found in Southeast Alaska powerhouses, vessels, and remote camps.

Prerequisite: DESL S171 or instructor’s permission.

The class is offered every spring semester.
