Luke Gunkel grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and spent many summers living and working in a small community on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. He moved to Juneau after graduating from high school and attended the University of Alaska Southeast, where he earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in History and English and, later, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with an emphasis on Secondary Education. Luke has worked in many industries, including automotive service, charter and commercial fishing, juvenile justice, and, most recently, public education, where he held several staff positions in Juneau School District and a professional high school teaching position at Warsaw Community High School in Warsaw, Indiana. He is excited to fulfill the role of Outreach Specialist and Admissions Advisor for the School of Career Education, and is always available to answer any questions about the many programs offered at the University of Alaska Southeast.
