Rick McDonald joined University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan in August 2003 as an Assistant Professor of Information Systems and received tenure and a promotion to Associate Professor in 2010. He previously taught face-to-face computer networking courses (CCNA and CCNP) at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina and at Forsyth Technical College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Rick received an M.A. in Educational Technology from Gonzaga University and holds Net+, A+, CCNA (Cisco Certified Networking Associate) and is a Cisco Certified Academy Instructor (CCAI). He also received Distance Education Certification from Simon Frasier University in Vancouver, BC.
Publications include: Network Fundamentals, CCNA Exploration Companion Guide, 2nd Edition (2007) by Mark Dye, Rick McDonald and Antoon Rufi; and Routers and Routing Basics CCNA 2 Companion Guide (2006) by Wendell Odom and Rick McDonald, published by Cisco Press. He also developed CCNP study guides and contributed as a technical editor on a previous edition of the CCNA 2 and 3 textbooks.
