Registration

Eligibility

Formal admission to a degree program is not a requirement to register for most courses offered by distance delivery. All students are expected to have met the prerequisites listed or have received permission from the instructor or program manager before registering for classes.

Placement Testing

To ensure that students are prepared for course work, students are required to take placement examinations in English, math, and computer skills before registering. Exams are given at campus Learning Centers in Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka or may be arranged for students in communities without UA coordinators by web at the UAS Learning Center.

Degree Seeking Students

Degree seeking students must complete an official application for admissions and pay the current application fee of $40. Once admitted, students should consult their faculty advisor regarding course sequencing before registering and plan their programs. Students should request an official degree audit at 40 credits for an associate degree and 85 credits for a baccalaureate degree.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

Students can register for courses if prerequisites are satisfied. No application fee is required.

Registration Methods

Students should consult with an academic advisor or a faculty member before applying for admission. Career possibilities, availability of courses, and the technology involved all need to be discussed. (Some degrees are not totally available by distance delivery.) Applications are available from local site coordinators or by calling 1-800-478-9069 or (907) 796-6409.

  • Online: Students may register online using UAOnline, if you have attended UAS at any time within the past two years. Courses that require special permission and placement testing, are not available via online registration. If you have trouble using this system please call the Records and Registration office at (907) 796-6458.
  • Call or visit any UA affiliated campus: Students may register anytime by calling any of the UA affiliated campuses.
  • FAX a registration form: Print, complete, SIGN and FAX the course registration form ( PDF | 78Kb) to the number listed on the form.
