Required Courses
The Cohort Model
Candidates move through the program with a supportive group of peers, a cohort. A cohort may have candidates from the same district or from across districts. We encourage districts and candidates to identify colleagues who may have an interest in this program to apply as a cohort.
Course Delivery
Candidates for the graduate certificate/endorsement in reading take one to two courses per semester; beginning with the summer session. Subsequent courses are delivered via audio conference and the internet, with the exception of the on-campus three-week Reading Practica (ED676) during the second summer session.
Statewide Reading Consortium
University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) and University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) offer the first seven core courses through a statewide consortium. Depending upon availability and director’s approval, UAS candidates can transfer a maximum of nine credit hours from UAF.
