Getting Started

Applying for Admission:

To complete the initial application for admission, please follow these instructions. After completing this application, be sure to check the program websites for the additional documents necessary for a complete application file. Most of the programs require official transcripts, letters of recommendation, a writing sample and other supporting documents. 

Registering for Classes:

The preferred form of registration for all UAS courses is through the UAOnline system. Please follow these registration instructions.

TEACH Grant:

The TEACH Grant is designed for students who intend to teach full time in a high-need field at a public or private elementary or secondary school that the U.S. Department of Education has designated as having a high concentration of students from low-income families.

Students enrolled in the M.Ed. in Special Education, M.Ed. in Reading or MAT Secondary with endorsement in Science, Math or Foreign Language are eligible to receive the TEACH grant if they meet all other requirements. Please refer to the UAS Financial Aid website for additional information.

Preparing Indigenous Teachers and Administrators for Alaskan Schools (PITAAS)

PITAAS is a teacher program for Alaska Natives at the University of Alaska Southeast. It is funded by a United States Department of Education Grant. Please visit the PITAAS website for additional information and their scholarship application.
