After your power point presentations are completed along with the narration, you are ready to Publish them for use in Macromedia Breeze. Before you publish your presentation please note the following:
Not all animations used in Powerpoint presentations are supported in Breeze. If an animation you used is not available, Breeze will automatically use a substitute. For a complete list of supported animations and the substitutions used by Breeze, Click Here.
In some cases you may have a special font set loaded on your computer which is not loaded on the Breeze server. In this case the font will be replaced by the closest matching font by Breeze. If the layout of your presentation depends on the font you can embed the font. For instructions on embedding fonts, Click Here.
Publishing Presentations to the Breeze Server
Open the Powerpoint presentation to be published.
Click on the Publish option in the Breeze Powerpoint Menu. The Macromedia Breeze Publishing window shown below opens.
In Breeze 5 you have the option of publishing the presentation to your local machine or the breeze server. By default when you open the publishing process the local option is displayed as seen above.
If you choose to publish to the local machine then it is recommended that you select the Zip Files option. This will make it easier to upload the files to the Breeze server. You can then modify how the presentation will be displayed by selecting one of the themes listed.
Click on the publish button to begin the publication process. The presentation will now be published to the folder that has been selected.
To publish the files directly to the Breeze server you click on the Breeze server tab located at the left hand side of the window as seen in the image below. If you want Breeze to upload the source files for the presentation click on the check box labeled "Upload source files to the server". The final setting is to select a theme.
Click on the Publish button to begin the publishing process.
The page shown below opens and asks you to verify that you have an account on the server by entering your login and password for Breeze.
Your login is your email address in the following format: firstname.lastname@uas.alaska.edu.
Your password is uas and the last four digit of your social security number - uas####.
When you login your content page will open(Example Below).
For brief instructions on managing the content tab (adding/deleting folders or files), Click Here.
Select the folder you would like the presentation to be saved to by double clicking on it. If no folder is selected, the presentation will be saved to the main folder. After selecting the folder, click on the Publish to this folder button to proceed with the publication process as shown below.
Enter a title for the presentation in the Title box. If you wish you may customize the URL for the presentation by entering the appropriate text in the Custom URL text box. If you do not make an entry in this text box Breeze will automatically create a standard URL for the presentation. You may then enter a Summary of the presentation in the Summary text box(optional). Click on the Next button to proceed to the next step in the production process, setting access permissions.
This step is important. If done incorrectly your students will not be able to access the presentation. In the image above you see the window that opens allowing you to set permissions for the presentation. Click on the Customize button to open the window shown below. In this step you must select Yes for the Allow Public Viewing option. If you do not select yes no one will be able to view the presentation without a Breeze account. This is required due to the fact that no student accounts are being created at this time. Click on the Finish button to publish the presentation. The window shown below will open confirming the location that the presentation will be published to.
When the publishing process is complete a dialog box like the one below will open stating that the presentation has been successfully published.
When the publication is complete the window shown below opens showing information about the published presentation including the URL you will need to provide for others to view the presentation. This URL can be copied and pasted into the Resources section of the UASOnline site for the course. For instructions on adding the link to UASOnline Click Here. Click on the OK button located near the lower left hand corner of the window to close the window and return to Powerpoint.
