FACULTY EMPLOYMENT
Overview
The University of Alaska Southeast follows a policy of hiring the most qualified instructional staff available for its educational programs. The selection and retention of a highly qualified faculty are of basic importance to individual programs and to the University as a whole. At the same time, equal employment and affirmative action goals are considered in all hiring activities.
UAS employs a diverse faculty holding appointments with academic rank or special academic rank. While the majority of information on this site addresses full-time faculty, we want to acknowledge the important role adjunct and part-time faculty play at UAS. There are several key documents governing faculty appointment, evaluation and life in general at UAS that faculty should learn to use regularly including The Board of Regent's Policy and University Regulations. Faculty are represented by one of three collective bargaining units listed below. In most instances faculty rights and responsibilities and related documentation (forms) are designed specifically with a particular bargaining unit in mind. Faculty should consult with their Dean or director to ascertain the bargaining unit to which they belong.
