Zach Gordan Scholarship

 The Board of Directors of the Zach Gordon Teenage Club, Inc., is offering two $500 scholarships in memory of Zach Gordon.  These scholarships are offered to one boy and one girl who will be 2008 high school or GED graduates who plan to enroll in a college, university, junior college, trade or professional school recognized by the Alaska Postsecondary Education Commission.  The scholarships may be used for tuition, text books, technical supplies or child care expenses. Applications must be received by May 17, 2008.

Tylenol Scholarship
  • 170 students will be granted scholarships in the amounts of $1000 and $5000
  • Applicants will be judged on leadership qualities and academic performance
  • Applications must be received by May 15th, 2008. Winners selected by the end of July 2008. Funds delivered by the end of August 2008.
Providence Alaska Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship

The Providence Alaska Medical Center Auxiliary is proud to offer up to four (4), $1000 scholarships to students in Alaska that are working toward a degree in the medical field.

In order to qualify, students must:

  •  Be admitted to a degree seeking clinical major
  •  Be currently enrolled as a first-year student or beyond at one of the institutions of higher education in the State of Alaska.
  •  Have a minimum grade point average of 2.70

To apply, interested students must submit the following by JUNE 30th, 2007:

  •   A complete and current official transcript of grades
  •   Two letters of recommendation from university of college faculty member
A two or three page statement that includes:
  •    Name, permanent address, phone number, social security number, and student ID number.
  •    A short history of the applicant and family
  •    A statement of goals
  •    A summary of interests and community involvement
  •    A summary of work experience and financial need

Applications may also be delivered by hand to the Volunteer Services Office at Providence Alaska Medical Center.  Recipients will be notified in August and funds will be sent directly to the college or university for the fall semester.
 
Alaska Retired Educators Association Scholarship

The $2000 Alaska Retired Educators Association scholarship is available to students who will be attending the University of Alaska Southeast during the 2008-2009 aid year.  If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, please complete the attached application, and send it, along with your three letters of recommendations, to AK-REA, Liz Lucas, 2880 Fritz Cove Rd, Juneau, AK  99801.


Hispanic College Fund Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements –
  Students must…

    * - be Hispanic
    * - maintain a 3.0 Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale)
    * - be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
    * - reside in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
    * - be a current or rising undergraduate (some programs accept grad. students) student or a high school senior enrolling at a college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
    * - demonstrate financial need


*Some HCF Programs also require that a student be pursuing a certain area of study.
* Students studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Pharmacy and Nursing are highly encourage to apply.

John Gyles Education Awards



Application Deadline: June 1st, 2008
Award: up tp $3,000
John Gyles Scholarships are available each year to students in both Canada and the United States. They are the result of a private, benevolent endeavor established in 1990. Those selected will receive up to $3,000.00. Several scholarships are awarded directly to students and a list of recipients is available at the end of each calendar year.


To apply for a scholarship applicants must be enrolled full-time at (or accepted to) a college or university program as an undergraduate or graduate student. (High school seniors, and others, may apply pending acceptance.) Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a scale of 4.0 (or similar grade assessment) and must also have citizenship in either the United States or Canada. No preference is given to students from either country. Additional criteria are listed on the application form. Applications must be mailed (post-marked by regular mail) no later than June 1st, 2008 to meet the next deadline.

BigSun Scholarship


Application Deadline: June 20, 2008.
Award amount: $500.00
The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.
The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution. Please visit their website to learn how to apply.



SPENDonLIFE Scholarship

The SPENDonLIFE College Scholarship program offers financial assistance for college students who are unable to obtain student loans due to a negative credit history. Awards range from $500 to $5,000 a year of full-time study and are based on financial need and participation in the application process.

Eligibility
The students must meet the following qualifications in order to be eligible:

  • The student must have been rejected for a student loan due to negative credit. A rejection letter from a lending institution or a letter from the student's financial aid officer confirming denial of financing may be requested.
  • The student must be a legal U.S. Resident.
  • The student must be a high school or college student.
  • The student must be 16 years of age or older.
  • The student must plan to be enrolled or must currently be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two- to four-year college or university.

Employees of SPENDonLIFE and it's associated companies, their family members, and persons living in the same household as employees or their family members are not eligible.

Awards
Up to 10 scholarship awards ranging from $500 to $5,000 will be awarded each year. Awards are non renewable. Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study. Awards are determined on a competitive basis. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as a recipient.

Scholarship awards will be paid directly to the college where the recipient is enrolled.

Application Procedure
You will need to download and complete the official application and write an essay detailed in the application document. Email the completed application and essay to scholarship@spendonlife.com. All applications must be recieved before May 15th, 2008.

Carefully review your application before submission. We recommend that you print a hard copy of your application to retain for your records. Printed copies should not be sent to SPENDonLIFE. Once the application is submitted, no further revisions may be made.
