Veterans' Assistance

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid advises and monitors the educational progress and status of:
Chapter 33 - Post 9/11 GI Bill
Chapter 30 - New Montgomery GI Bill
Chapter 31 - Vocational Rehabilitation
Chapter 35 - Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program
Chapter 1606 - Selected Reserve
Eligibility
veterans

If you wish to use your veteran's educational benefits under above mentioned chapters, you must be admitted to a UAS degree or certificate program. If you have not yet applied for admission, you can apply online at UAOnline.

To receive veteran's educational benefits, you must be enrolled in appropriate courses that apply to the degree program you are pursuing. Prior to the beginning of each semester (and preferably during the early registration period), you should confirm your enrollment by providing us with a copy of your class schedule. We will only certify courses that fit into your degree, as listed in the academic catalog under which you were admitted. We cannot certify courses that you are repeating.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill Website now offers a step-by-step guide on what to consider and how to apply, including an estimator to help eligible individuals determine how much money they are eligible for. The intent is to make this process as easy and straight forward as possible and to alleviate any confusion that claimants may have.

Contacts

If you are eligible and wish to use Chapter 31 (vocational rehabilitation) benefits, you must meet with the local Department of Veterans Affairs vocational rehabilitation counselor, who will review, recommend and authorize use of your benefits. Please contact the local Veterans' Center at 907-586-7472, or 1-800-827-1000 for questions about Chapter 31, or general veterans' information.

The Department of Veterans' Affairs offers an advance pay program available through the Financial Aid Office. Please contact us to determine if you qualify.
