1 . I have a GED, not a high school diploma. Am I eligible to receive financial aid?^

Yes. You must be admitted to a degree program in order to receive financial aid, and you can apply for admission with a GED.

2 . What happens to my financial aid if I don't complete all of the credits I attempted this semester, or if my GPA falls below 2.0?^

You likely will lose eligibility to receive financial aid during the next semester.  Please review the Satisfactory Academic Progress Statement to review your options and to ensure your continued eligibility for funding!

3 . Are all the courses offered at UAS fundable with financial aid?^

No. Year-long correspondence courses, the remedial Math 054 course, 500-level courses, and challenge courses are not fundable with state or federal funds.

4 . Do I have to have my financial aid application finalized before I apply for admission?^

No. In fact, it helps us determine your costs of attendance if we know the degree program to which you will apply. Because both the financial aid and admissions applications can be lengthy procedures, we recommend you submit both applications at about the same time so you will have time to gather the supporting materials you'll need for both.

Keep in mind that there is a priority deadline for submitting applications for admission.

5 . Do I need to be completely admitted to a degree program before I apply for financial aid?^

No. You need to be completely admitted before federal, state, or institutional funds can be disbursed. However, you do not need to be completely admitted in order to obtain your financial aid award letter, accept your offer, or for us to certify your loans. Because both the financial aid and admissions applications can be lengthy procedures, we recommend you submit both applications at about the same time so you will have time to gather the supporting materials you'll need for both.
