To be awarded this
scholarship, the recipient must:
1) Attend
University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan campus either full or part-time (at
least six credit hours) and be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.0
grade point average (GPA).
2) Be admitted
to a vocational certificate or degree program OR enrolled in course work
leading toward industry certifications or university certificate of completion. (Vocational programs include
but are not limited to: accounting,
business, marine transportation, office skills, certified nurse assistant, and
welding.)
3) Preference
is given to students who are currently employed at least part-time. The purpose
of this scholarship is to encourage students working their way through college.
4) Include
within your essay information about your work history, and if financial aid is
sought for course work not leading to a university degree or certificate
program, indicate the proposed course of study and show requirements for the industry
certification sought.
5) Demonstrate financial need,
motivation, academic and leadership potential, and evidence of solid work
habits, all important factors in the awarding of this scholarship.
