UAS Campus Scholarships



Deadline for 2010-2011 UAS Scholarships is

February 15th, 2010.

To apply for UAS Scholarships you must first complete
a four step process on UAonline.



It is expected that recipients:

  • carry 12 or more credits per semester
  • maintain satisfactory academic progress.
A higher grade point averages may be required of some awards.  Check individual requirements for maintaining scholarships you have received.

 

To be considered for need base scholarships, all applicants must also file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility for federal and State of Alaska aid programs before Feb. 16. You can obtain the FAFSA On The Web Worksheet from your school counselor or the Financial Aid Office at UAS.

The UAS Scholarship application is used to apply for scholarships offered through the University of Alaska Southeast for attendance at the Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka campuses. UAS scholarships require the successful applicant(s) to adhere to the University of Alaska Southeast Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.

 

List of UAS Scholarships

Academic Decathlon Scholarship

This scholarship is open to 2010 graduates of Alaska high schools who have participated in the Spring 2010 Academic Decathlon and who are entering any degree program at UAS. Proof of participation in this competition is required.

A.D. ‘Al’ Robertson Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be members of the graduating class of Ketchikan High School in the year the scholarship is awarded with a minimum GPA of 2.5, and may attend any of the University of Alaska two or four year campuses.

Beck Writing Award

Applicants must demonstrate exceptional skill and interest in writing, and must be either a full or part-time program student at the University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan Campus for the semester the award is given. Preference will be given to students who have completed at least one semester of college level writing classes with an average grade of B or higher and who intend to continue to take English courses.  Interested applicants must contact the Ketchikan campus directly for the required separate application form.

Bill & Nell Biggs Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be graduates of a Juneau High School or be Juneau residents who have completed a high school equivalency program. Preference will be given to applicants majoring in Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, Science and Mathematics, related science subjects, or foreign languages such as Spanish, German or French. Applicants should demonstrate motivation, academic and leadership potential; preference will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need.

Boochever Endowment for the Arts

This scholarship is to provide financial support to full time students in the theater programs at UAS.

Coeur d'AleneMines Environmental Leadership Award

Applicants must be full-time students majoring in Environmental Science at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, and should demonstrate motivation, and academic leadership potential.

Corey King Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is open to students entering any vocational or technical program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Preference will be given to those students demonstrating financial need.

Crimson Bear Spirit Scholarship

Applicants must be graduates of Juneau Douglas High School who will be entering freshmen at the UAS Juneau Campus in the Fall of 2010. Applicants must submit a 500-1000 word essay on the topic "What makes me proud to be a Juneau Douglas high school graduate?"

Delta Kappa Gamma Carol Koski Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be women pursuing a career in education at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus, and be in the last year of their education program with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to Alaska residents who plan to remain in Alaska.

Edward Siemon Scholarship

To provide financial assistance for students at UAS Ketchikan campus who are pursuing a degree in sciences, math or technology.

Emma Marks Memorial for Alaska Native Languages

To provide financial support for the study of native languages, including, but not limited to: student scholarships, tution, teaching assistants, adjunct faculty, curriculum development and materials.

Ferge-Siemon Math, Science & Technology Scholarship

Recipient must attend the University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan Campus either full or part-time, and be pursuing a math, science, pre-engineering, electronics or computer degree program

Gaile F. Haynes Memorial Scholarship

To provide scholarship assistance to UAS students who have been released from incarceration in the Johnson Youth Center within ten years of applying for this scholarship. Assistance must be only for tuition, class fees, books and supplies for classes in which the student is registered. Applicants must be degree seeking, must not have reoffended since release from JYC, must provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher, preferably from JYC, must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be making Satisfactory Academic Progress, and must be an Alaska resident. Students can be either full or part-time.

Gastineau Rotary Scholarship

This scholarship is open to 2010 graduates of Juneau high schools who are entering any degree program offered at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants will be judged on the basis of academic achievement, leadership potential, goal-oriented motivation and financial need.

George Masek Memorial Scholarship

To provide financial assistance for Business students at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Glacier Highway Electric Association Scholarship

This scholarship is open to students attending the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus who reside in the former service area of the Glacier Highway Electric Association (north of the Mendenhall Valley). Applicants must clearly describe the physical location of their residence (post office boxes are not sufficient). In addition, applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership potential, and goal-oriented motivation.

Icicle Seafoods Petersburg High School Scholasrhip

The Icicle Seafood Petersburg High School Scholarship provides scholarship assistance to Petersburg High School graduates or Petersburg residents with a GED who plan to attend the University of Alaska Southeast. The scholarships are available to full or part-time students across all disciplines.

JDHS Student Recognition Scholarship

This scholarship is open to students who have been honored under the 2009-2010 Student Recognition Program at the Juneau-Douglas High School and who are entering any degree program offered at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership potential, and goal-oriented motivation.

Jean Gross Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships for Computer, Information and Office Systems (CIOS) students on teh Juneau campus of UAS.

Jean Kline Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be pursuing a Business degree at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus, and must demonstrate motivation, academic achievement and leadership potential. Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; graduate applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

John Rutherford Noyes Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is open to full-time students attending the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus who have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA. Applicants should demonstrate motivation, as well as academic and leadership potential. Preference will be given to Education and Science majors and to members of the Alaska National Guard.

Juneau Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

This scholarship is open to full-time, upper division students attending the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must be committed to the development of business and commerce in Southeast Alaska, and must demonstrate motivation, and academic and leadership potential. Preference will be given to residents of Southeast Alaska with a 2.8 or higher cumulative GPA.

Juneau Empire Scholarship

This scholarship is open to Juneau residents pursuing any major or field of study at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must demonstrate motivation as well as academic and leadership potential. Preference will be given to minority students.

Juneau Elks Lodge Scholarship

This scholarship is open to any student whose father or guardian is a member in good standing of an Elks Lodge in the State of Alaska, and who plans to attend the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Emphasis will be placed on school oriented extracurricular activities.

Juneau Garden Club Scholarship

Applicants must be graduates of Southeast Alaska high schools or residents of Southeast Alaska who are admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Biology degree program or the Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree program with an emphasis in science at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. The applicant’s intended career must involve horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, land management, alternate energy, and/or an allied field. Each applicant must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and must demonstrate financial need and goal-oriented motivation.

Juneau Rotary Club Scholarship

Applicants must be Southeast Alaska residents who are entering any degree program offered at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants will be judged on the basis of academic achievement, excellence in the arts, leadership potential, goal-oriented motivation and financial need.

Key Bank Scholarship for Business and Economics

This scholarship is open to Alaska residents who are full-time upper division business, economics or e-commerce students at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, and should demonstrate motivation, and academic and leadership potential.

Ketchikan Bridge Club

Applicants must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA, be attending the University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan Campus as a full or part-time student, and demonstrate motivation towards employment potential in chosen field. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate motivation and hard work towards a higher education and display some level of financial need.

Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce

To provide scholarships to students enrolled in any program at the Ketchikan campus for full or part-time students.

Ketchikan Correctional Center Scholarship

To provide scholarships to students enrolled at the Ketchikan campus who are inmates at the Ketchikan Correctional Center.

Kevin Sanders Memorial Scholarship

To provide scholarship support for students participating in visitor industry programs. Not specific to degree or Regents' certificate programs.

Mike Miller Scholarship

Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree with an emphasis in communications at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus, and must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential and goal-oriented motivation. Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; graduate applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Paul Wingren Memorial Vocational Scholarship

Applicants must be full or part-time students admitted to a vocational certificate or degree program, or in a course of study leading to industry certification or a university certificate of completion, at the University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan campus. Applicants should demonstrate motivation, academic and employment potential in the area for which the scholarship is offered. Preference will be given to students who are currently employed at least part time, including those employed as student workers on campus. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage students working their way through college.

PEO Chapter D Career Education Scholarship

Applicants must be full-time female students who are admitted to a vocational or technical degree or certificate program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus and who demonstrate financial need, motivation and scholastic achievement.

PEO Chapter D Ethel Montgomery Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be full-time female students who are admitted to any degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus and who demonstrate financial need, motivation and scholastic achievement.

PEO Chapter D Performing Arts Scholarship

Applicants must be full-time female students who are admitted to any degree at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus and who are have demonstrated an interest and involvement in the performing arts. In addition, applicants must demonstrate financial need, motivation and scholastic achievement.

PEO Chapter G Scholarship

Applicants must be female students who demonstrate motivation, academic achievement leadership potential and financial need. Preference will be given to applicants in the last year of an Education degree at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus who have dependent children

Phylis Smith Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be full or part-time students at the University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan campus, and must demonstrate motivation, and academic and leadership potential.

Ralph Yetka Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be graduates of Ketchikan or Revilla High School, and must have earned at least a 2.5 GPA while in high school and be enrolled in good academic standing at any University of Alaska campus. Students must be majoring in engineering, elementary or secondary education, computer science or aviation, and must have demonstrated motivation and leadership potential through either school sponsored extracurricular activities or community service organizations.

Roger Boyden Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is open to students admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Biology program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants should demonstrate motivation, academic achievement and leadership potential. Preference will be given to those applicants who have family responsibilities and who demonstrate financial need.

Roger Lang Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be Native Alaskan residents of Southeast Alaska and must demonstrate motivation, academic achievement and leadership potential. Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; graduate applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants must be admitted to any degree program at one of the three campuses of the University of Alaska Southeast.

Selina Peratrovich Memorial Endowment for Native Arts

To provide financial assistance to students interested in learning traditional native art regardless of cultural background.

Southeast Conference Scholarship

Applicants must be Southeast Alaska residents who are enrolled at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka Campus. Applicants should demonstrate motivation, academic and leadership potential, and must be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Applicants should be committed to the development of business and commerce in Southeast Alaska. Applicants for this scholarship must complete a supplemental application.

Southeast Roundup Scholarship

This scholarship is open to students enrolled at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus in business/vocational/technical programs, and will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and extracurricular involvement. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship is renewable if the recipient continues to meet the minimum requirements.

Success Award

This scholarship was created to reward the successful efforts of continuing students (i.e., those who have had a break in their academic career) at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus who have demonstrated the ability to focus on goals and take action to realize those goals in the face of life’s challenges. Preference will be given to students with dependent children living at home. The scholarship is potentially renewable. Multiple awards may be made as funding permits.

Tuxedo Junction Scholarship

This scholarship is open to full time students enrolled at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus, and will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and extracurricular involvement. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The successful recipients may be asked to assist with University scholarship fund-raisers.

UAS Alumni Association Scholarship

This scholarship is open to all students regardless of age, with a preference for residents of Southeast Alaska. Students may be at any grade level and can be entering any degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka Campus. Applicants must demonstrate goal-oriented motivation, academic achievement and leadership potential, and must intend to remain in Alaska after graduation.

UAS Talent Grant

Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, goal-oriented motivation and financial need, and may be enrolled in any degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka Campus.

UAS Tuition Scholarship

Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, goal-oriented motivation and financial need, and may be enrolled in any degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka Campus. Note: tuition scholarships may be used only for courses offered through the campus that awarded the scholarship.

UAS Vocational-Technical Scholarship

Applicants must be admitted to a vocational or technical program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka Campus. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and may attend full or part-time.

United Students of UAS - Juneau (US UAS-J) Full-Time Scholarship

This scholarship is open to full-time students who are admitted to any degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and goal-oriented motivation as demonstrated by involvement in curricular and extracurricular activities. Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA; graduate applicants must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.

United Students of UAS - Juneau (US UAS-J) Part-Time Scholarship

This scholarship is open to part-time students enrolled in 6-11 credit hours who are admitted to any degree program at University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and goal-oriented motivation as demonstrated by involvement in curricular and extracurricular activities. Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA); graduate applicants must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Verna Carrigan Scholarship

Applicants must be residents of Southeast Alaska, with preference given to students from the Juneau and Douglas areas, who are entering any degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, goal-oriented motivation and financial need.

W. Lloyd Gallagher Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be admitted to the Bachelor of Business Administration or Masters in Public Administration degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast with a minimum 3.0 GPA, or be admitted to the Masters of Public Administration degree program with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. Applicants must demonstrate motivation, academic achievement and leadership potential.

Ward Cove Scholarship

This scholarship is open to residents of Southeast Alaska, or to those students who plan to make Southeast Alaska their permanent residence, and who are science majors at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and should demonstrate motivation, academic and leadership potential

Wells Fargo Bank Scholarship

This scholarship is open to students admitted to a two- or four-year Business degree at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau. Ketchikan or Sitka Campus and who demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership potential, and goal-oriented motivation.
